Newton Mearns make up artist makes the finals of the Scottish Wedding Awards

Laura Dawson has made it through to the finals in the Make-up Artist of the Year category.

First starting out in 1997, she has carved out a career for herself working with some big names in the industry including MAC and Chanel.

Laura has also been nominated multiple times at Scottish Wedding Awards, with an amazing win in 2017.

Laura, who has a studio in Rutherglen, said: “It’s a very competitive industry so it is amazing to be nominated.

“Customers vote online, and if you receive enough votes, you make it through to the shortlist. Then you have to supply reasons why you think you deserve to win.

“Most of my business comes from recommendations,” Laura continued. “It’s fantastic that brides are referring me to their friends and family.

“And that they welcome me back into their family means they like me as a person as well as my work. That’s a great feeling.”

Laura will find out if she’s won at the finals on February 25.
