Akorn Badge Company has been sold for an undisclosed sum to Nottinghamshire-based Badgemaster, with work transferring to the firm’s base in Newstead.

It’s understood Akorn owner Jim Kent has joined the board of Badgemaster and that general manager Jim McNiven has also accepted a senior management post with the company.

Badgemaster advertises itself as Britain’s favourite maker of badges, with products ranging from lapel badges to key fobs.

The company claims it cannot be beaten on price.

It was founded in 1992, and has grown from a modest venture to become “a leading international supplier” of badges and corporate identity products.

We tried without success to contact Mr Kent through the still-functioning Akorn phone nunber.
