Work begins on new Lidl store at Robroyston

The fit-out of a new Lidl 
supermarket within
Robroyston Retail Park, Glasgow has started after planning permission was granted by Glasgow City Council

Lidl is working with construction firm Dickie and Moore to complete the store which will create up to 40 new jobs when opened.

The work is expected to take four months, with a view to opening the store in early 2021. The new sustainable store with 1433m² sales area, will also feature facilities 
including an in-store bakery, customer toilets and ample parking.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Gordon Rafferty, commented: “There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that we are now in a position to start the fit out stage.

“We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the project.”

The new supermarket forms part of the company’s £1.45bn investment in its expansion across Great Britain last year and throughout 2020.

Lidl says it is proud to now have over 100 stores in Scotland, with the opening of a new Retail Distribution Centre in Motherwell in late 2019.
