Brunch bunch: Online searches for ‘brunch’ up 124 per cent across Scotland

Brunch, a type of meal which is usually taken late in the morning that combines a late breakfast and an early lunch has boomed in popularity in the last few years with internet searches rising by an astonishing 124% in Scotland from 2021 to 2023.

Figures from the Cut & Craft shows that Scotland was the nation with the largest increase (124%), just narrowly beating England (123%). Northern Ireland came third with 116% and Wales came fourth with a rise of 85%.In Scotland Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth and Dunfermline all came in at the top with a 133% rise. Edinburgh was second (125%), Stirling was third (120%).

Dundee came in at the bottom of the table with a 55% increase.

Looking at the UK city table, Bangor NI was at the top (250%), Salford second (243%) and Wakefield third (175%). Aberdeen, Inverness and Peth rounded out the top 10 in eighth, ninth and ten place with 133% respectively.

Speaking about the findings, the managing director of The Cut & Craft Oscar Akgul said: “It is absolutely incredible to see these amazing rises in searches for brunch across the UK. Brunch is a meal that can be enjoyed by anyone whether that is in the late morning with your family or a bottomless brunch with your friends.”

He added: “Not only is it fantastic to see a wide range of UK cities have such a high increase in searches for brunch, but it also shows that this meal trend is not slowing down anytime soon.”
