Plans have been submitted by Ryder Architecture for the new Boclair Academy building in Bearsden.

The new design includes new outdoor sport facilities along with learning facilities over two storeys to accommodate more than 1000 pupils, according to Business Insider and Scottish Construction Now.

Ryder Architecture and Barton Wilmore have revealed their vision of the school for East Dunbartonshire Council.

The developers promise “an environment that supports collaborative approaches to teaching, learning and working”. The design of the building is intended to enable teachers to use the different types of spaces to deliver lessons in alternative and more informal formats.

Ryder said building materials had been selected to complement the sandstone and facing brick of neighbouring historic villas and the listed Kilmardinny House.

A brick and glass ‘light box’ to the north east of the school, which will house the art department, will offer views toward the Campsie Fells and River Kelvin Valley.

An application for planning consent has been submitted to East Dunbartonshire by Barton Willmore.
