A bevy of beauty students at Cumbernauld’s New College Lanarkshire are drumming up support for a special fundraising event in June – and are asking local firms to help them.

They are determined to collect as much as possible towards the cost of a much-needed new minibus at Baird Memorial Primary, reckoned set to cost £13,000.

The school gets standard support for its core needs, but not for the sort of vehicle that’s needed to accommodate children in wheelchairs.

Getting to go on outdoor excursions, such as the one pictured where kids visited Arria and learned about Cumbernauld is hugely important to the children, and finally having the right vehicle will make a dramatic difference to school activities, because at the moment some children are missing out.

Organiser Lauren Maybury said: “We want to help them as much as possible by selling raffle tickets to help them raise the funds they need.

“We are looking for businesses who would be interested in contributing prizes such as vouchers, tickets and other gifts.”
