Councillor Gordon Muir officially opened the school in Lesmahagow, where pupils have been taught since May 2012, alongside pupils Alex Brock and Adam Naismith, the eldest and youngest of the children at the school.

And the youngsters put on a show for their parents and other invited guests who went along.

She said: “It was a tremendous morning and the children really enjoyed themselves.”

Guests were greeted by the music of talented primary six accordionist Mark Bryson who later performed Bonnie Galloway to an appreciative audience.

Primary three pupil Liam Richardson recited a poem before the kids entertained with songs called We’re In It Together, Put A Smile On Your Face and We’re So Proud Of Our School.

The children also told the audience why they like their new school before the official unveiling by Gordon, Alex and Adam.

Linda Campbell added: “The children love their new school, in particular all of the new technology that is available to them.

“The new school building is fantastic but all of the good things that Bent Primary prides itself on comes from the old school building.

“Things like a good working ethos, enthusiastic children, great support from parents and the wider community all came from the old school.

“The new building is very much the icing on the cake for us.”
