Crawforddyke Primary Bike Stunt Show 2014 Slideshow

THE pupils of Carluke’s Crawforddyke Primary School had a ‘wheely’ good time – watching stunt riders hurtle skywards on their bikes to perform spectacular mid air moves.

The half hour demonstration by six Stunt Riderz members was done as part of a Cycling Scotland initiative promoting the message ‘Give Me Cycle Space’.

Crawforddyke Primary School depute head Roslyn Shanks said: “We used this event to promote cycling and encourage the pupils to come to school on their bikes.

“And we also wanted to champion the fact that motorists need to give cyclists enough space to be safe on the roads.”

The Stunt Riderz crew took time out between stunts to sign autographs for pupils; they also did a safety check on the youngsters’ bikes, changing tyre pressure or oiling chains to make the necessary improvements.

The full story of the event is featured in this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is out now.
