East Renfrewshire Council’s Adult Learning Services’ team are holding a celebration event to commemorate 100 years since the Report on Adult Education was published in November 1919, which set the groundwork for British Adult Education during the 20th century.

The drop-in event will be held on Tuesday, November 19 between 12.30-2.30pm in The Foundry, Barrhead to reflect on the progress and achievements of local adult learners over the past 100 years and encourage others to expand their skillset.

This event gives residents the chance to come along and find out more about courses and learning opportunities available in East Renfrewshire. Partners including East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust, U3A (University of the Third Age) and The Open University will also be on hand on the day.

Adult Learning Services offer a range of courses for adults who wish to study at college, learn how to use a computer, get a new job, build confidence or are looking to gain new skills or qualifications.

A number of courses are available including ESOL (English as a Second or Other Language), Adult Literacies, computing and personal development with some SQA accredited courses.

All courses take place in a supportive and inclusive environment with friendly and qualified staff to help learners at each stage of the learning journey.
