It’s all going on(line) at the EDLC libraries

Residents have been
switching on to EDLC Trust’s digital library services since its facilities and public
buildings were closed in
accordance with social
distancing guidelines.

There has been a significant increase in library membership, with new members joining online each day to take advantage of the range of digital services available.

The resources available include: e-books and e-audiobooks, available to download at home; virtual meetings for reading groups; eNewspapers on PressReader; online guidance on how to use Skype & other online tools to connect with friends & family; virtual Bookbug sessions, family history resources and online resources including Britannica Junior.

East Dunbartonshire Council boss Thomas Glen said: “I am delighted EDLC Trust is able to offer this wide range of library services during this very difficult and challenging time.

“For many social distancing can be very isolating so it’s great to see members benefiting from sessions that bring people together, like virtual bookbug sessions and virtual reading group meetings.”

He added: “I would encourage anyone living in East Dunbartonshire who doesn’t yet have a library membership, to apply online and take advantage of these resources and online activities. There really is something of interest for everyone.”
