And although they didn’t win – the eventual champions were Fortrose Academy from the Highlands – it was an enjoyable learning experience for all involved.

The competition is one of the biggest highlights of the year for Young Enterprise Scotland (YES).

Set up in 1992, YES supports around 15,000 young people each year, helping them develop their business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills.

The Mearns Castle High team – On the Go – were Casey Williamson, Adam Rose, Priya Brad, Poppy Robinson, Gemma Woods, Brad Wildman, Nicola Cole and Jemima Dover.

The On the Go team members are passionate about environmental issues, therefore in order to help combat the issue of single-use plastic, their product was a variety of stainless steel water bottles that keep drinks hot or cold over time.

Products created by other teams included fashion t-shirts upcycled from charity shops or donations; tartan wall art with Scottish themed wooden shapes; Standing Stone wooden clocks made from recycled pallet wood; and new fresh scented candles made from melting down old candles.
