The Herald reported a few weeks ago how Bearden Academy turned their design department into a production line for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) because of a shortage of the vital kit for NHS and local social care workers.

Now Douglas Academy, Kirkintilloch High School, Bishopbriggs Academy, Turnbull High School, Lenzie Academy and St Ninian’s High School have made several thousand safety visors between them using 3D printer technology.

The PPE has been distributed to East Dunbartonshire Health & Social Care Partnership and to hospitals, charities, health centres, medical surgeries, opticians, police and care homes. Council leaders Vaughan Moody and Andrew Polson praised the schools for their dedication.
