Julie Harvie, head teacher of the Lennoxtown primary, said: “It was a wonderful opportunity for our senior children to have the chance to interview their MSP.

“Ms Mackay spoke about her life as a politician and the children were motivated and engaged in the discussions which took place.

“This will be of great benefit to them in bringing their topic of ‘The Scottish Parliament’. We really appreciate the time Ms Mackay took out of her busy schedule to visit us.”

The Strathkelvin and Bearsden MSP said: “I would like to thank St Machan’s Primary School for having me — I had a wonderful time answering the children’s questions.

“I was very impressed with the energy and enthusiasm pupils showed during the visit. I look forward to visiting the school again in the future.”
