North Lanarkshire schools hoping for success at education awards

Condorrat Primary and Greenfaulds High from Cumbernauld have both been shortlisted for the Gaelic Education Award, Brannock High from Newarthill is in the running for the Health and Wellbeing Award.

There is a total of 15 categories at this year’s awards which attracted a record 400 nominations, each recognising early learning and schools where ‘a vibrant and progressive culture of continuous innovation has been developed’.

Both Condorrat Primary and Greenfaulds High were applauded for their efforts in Gaelic education, while Brannock High was celebrated for its progressive, innovative and inclusive approach to health and wellbeing.

To reach this stage, all three schools have already been assessed by a panel of experts, and endorsed by North Lanarkshire Council.

Councillor Frank McNally, convener of Education, Youth and Communities, said:“I’d like to congratulate all the finalists at this year’s awards – especially those from North Lanarkshire.

“Every day staff in our schools work tirelessly to ensure our young people get the best possible education opportunities, and are provided a platform to achieve their full potential.

“It is fantastic news that three of our schools have made the national finals.”

All finalists will now undergo one final round, a visit from awards’ judges, before the winners are announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on June 6.
