Currently pupils at that age then travel to nearby Carnwath Primary to continue their education.

However, that may not be the case now that the school is to be re-built.

SLC Head of Education George Wynne said: “At the parent and resident roadshow held on January 29, the plans for the new school were displayed and discussed.

“These plans showed the proposals for new teaching and storage and areas, as well as the gym and dining hall. A very positive response was received at that event by parents and residents.

“The council is looking to re-establish Auchengray Primary as a P1-P7 school. The decision on the consultation on re-establishing stages primary five to primary seven at Auchengray will be made at the Executive Committee on July 9.”
