Children’s charity needs help

A key annual golf fundraiser for the Craighalbert children’s centre “desperately” needs help from local people able to form teams.

Staged at Dullatur Golf Club, the Craighalbert Golf Classic supports the Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments, and has always managed to bring in important sums for the deserving local cause.

Its invaluable work includes expert support from staff who manage, for example, a siblings group, and its assets include a special hydrotherapy pool.

But because of the ongoing national financial crisis numbers taking part have slumped in recent years, and the organisers are keen to rally support ahead of this year’s event, which takes place on Thursday, September 11.

They have stressed how important the centre is to the children who use it.

The organisers are inviting people willing to form teams to take advantage of a special June offer, and are also asking local firms to donate prizes for the day.

Spokeswoman Anne Taylor said: “We would be very grateful for any help you could give to make this event a success.

“Fundraising really does make such a difference to the children and families who attend the centre so please help us in any way you can.”
