Contact tracing at Lenzie Academy as covid cases rise in East Dunbartonshire

Contact tracing is being carried out at Lenzie Academy High School of Glasgow as cases of coronavirus rise in East Dunbartonshire.

NHS chiefs last night announced there had been positive cases identified at four Glasgow schools, one in East Dumbartonshire, one school in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, and another in East Renfrewshire.

The others are St Thomas Acquinas, Holyrood Secondary, Caldercuilt Primary, Crookfur Primary and St Peter the Apostle High School.

An NHS spokesperson added: “There is currently no evidence of internal transmission within the schools but there are positive cases.

“Apart from those who are identified as close contacts, all other staff and pupils can continue to attend as normal.

“The exception to this applies to East Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire and Renfrewshire where additional COVID-19 control measures are in place.

“In these Local Authority areas, any close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 are being advised that they and all those in their household group, should self-isolate for 14 days.”
