Coronavirus assessments set to be carried out in East Renfrewshire

The assessment centre will be based at Eastwood Health and Care Centre, at Drumby Crescent, and is expected to become operational on Thursday (April 9), depending on receipt of the appropriate equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

People will be assessed for the coronavirus (COVID-19) by appointment only.

Julie Murray, chief officer, East Renfrewshire Health & Social Care Partnership, said: “Here is East Renfrewshire we are committed to supporting residents as much as we can during the coronavirus pandemic.

“To continue this and to support the national efforts in combating this virus, we are going to open a coronavirus assessment centre at Eastwood Health and Care Centre.

“The assessment centre will be in a contained area of the health centre with a dedicated entrance and exit.

“This will allow residents to continue to attend routine appointments safely and protect staff working at the health centre.

“It will be accessed by appointment only following a referral by 111. It’s really important that people don’t come to the health centre without an appointment.

“More details will be issued in the coming days so residents accessing the centre for routine appointments know what to expect and where to go.”

Ms Murray also took the opportunity to thank East Renfrewshire’s health and social care staff.

“Our workforce are going above and beyond the call of duty and we’re so grateful to you,” she said.

“I’d also like to thank the public of East Renfrewshire for doing their bit and staying at home.”
