Homeopathy deadline extension

Cumbernauld and Kilsyth people who want to be able to use homeopathic services in Glasgow have until the end of the month to contribute to a key consultation.

Thousands of people across Lanarkshire have already given their views on whether or not NHS Lanarkshire should continue to use services provided by the Centre for Integrative Care (formerly known as the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital).

The consultation comes against a background of widespread scepticism within the NHS about the worth of homeopathy and its reliance on natural remedies.

At the same time some NHS patients feel strongly that homeopathy offers a convincing alternative to conventional medicine.

Public Partnership Forum (PPF) member Ann Muir, who is also part of the group which is overseeing the consultation process, said: “We’ve had such a fantastic response to the consultation so far, so I think it makes sense to extend it and give even more people the chance to view the document and respond to it.”

The consultation on whether local people can continue to access the service was launched in January and was due to close on April 11, but because of the level of interest it has been extended to Wednesday, April 30.

A review group set up to undertake this work has produced the consultation report which people are being asked for their views on.
