Hairdresser Lyndsay Nixon at Scragg hairdresser in Cumbernauld village was happy to wield the scissors for Rebecca’s effort - and in place of her former green flowing locks she was left with a very close-cropped head.
A video of the ordeal achieved astronomic numbers of hits, and - boosted by Tesco shoppers, friends and family - donations for her appeal started rolling in.
She was delighted to join Tesco community champion Caherine Drummond in handing over a cheque for a few pence under £790 to Macmillan Cancer Support - but the final tally will be higher still.
