Joseph's an inspiration to all

A Lennoxtown man has received recognition for the courage he displayed after suffering a stroke.

Joseph Duffy Laird, from Lennoxtown, was nominated for a Life After Stroke Award by the Stroke Association.

He received his award from Stroke Association Ambassor and television producer Nick Ede at a recent event.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “Joseph had a stroke whilst at work.

“He was a fit and healthy man and only 59-years-old - to have a stroke at such a young age shook his family and work colleagues.

“Joseph practises physiotherapy every day - even if he doesn’t want to - as he knows this will help him get back to independence.

He has thrown himself into all the activities he can manage and is determined to get back to full health.”
