The Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex has re-opened for the first time since March – with a very different purpose in mind.

The Main Street centre which has been at the heart of a controversial prolonged shutdown has been chosen as the venue for a mass vaccination clinic by NHS Lanarkshire which targets those aged 70 to 79 and those who are extremely vulnerable in clinical terms.

The board which has worked with the Army is now us ing Motherwell Civic Theatre as another hub. Dr Mark Russell, Associate Medical Director, Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire said:“It’s great to see our centres open. Our staff have been working extremely hard to set them up.”
