More than 2,000 homes in Milngavie and Bearsden affected by burst water main

More than 2000 properties in parts of the north of Milngavie and Bearsden, including Baljaffray, experienced a loss of normal supply, low water pressure or discoloured water following the burst on a 10 inch water main in North Dumgoyne Avenue, Milngavie this morning.
Scottish Water operatives have isolated the burst and are working to repair it, and tankering water into the local network, to enable the restoration of normal water supplies as quickly as possible.

Hide AdA Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We apologise for the inconvenience and thank affected customers for their patience and understanding. We fully appreciate the impact of the disruption particularly at this time, with Government and NHS advice regarding hygiene and handwashing during the Covid-19 response.
“Our engineers working on the repair are adhering to the guidance on social distancing while progressing with this work.
“When individual properties have their normal water supply restored will depend on their location on the water network.
“If any affected customers experience discoloured water when supplies are restored, they should run the cold water tap in their kitchen until the water runs clear.”
