The event is open to those who have lived experience of mental health problems. Those who work in the physical activity and sports community are also invited to attend.

It takes place in Motherwell Baptist Church on Tuesday from noon-3pm and will help to shape a new three year project aimed at increasing the representation and participation of people with mental health problems in sport and physical activity.

Heather Duff, development manager at SAMH, said: “Regular exercise isn’t just good for our physical health, it’s also great for our mental health and wellbeing.

“It’s therefore important that people with mental health problems feel like they have a voice and are being represented in their community, and that we work together to break down some of the barriers that exist.

“These events will play a huge part in doing this, and I’d encourage anyone with experience of mental health problems or who works in the industry to get involved.”
