And the new Crowning Lady is looking forward to being chauffered around the procession route, although she will miss walking with the Kilninie Club pageant.

“I am really looking forward to a very special Lanimer Week,” said Agnes.

“I know I will have the time of my life.

“I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen to be Crowning Lady.

“I just love everything about Lanimers – the history and tradition and the buzz and excitement of Lanimer morning getting ready to take our place in the procession.”

Agnes (54), who is originally from Braehead, has lived in Lanark for 33 years with husband George and son Andrew.

She has always worked with children, first as a Sunday School teacher at Braehead Church and then at Greyfriars in Lanark.
