All change for community councillors

COMMUNITY councillors will no longer be nominated by organisations.

Instead, in the latest scheme approved by South Lanarkshire Council, members must put stand as individuals, with elections if necessary.

At present one third of the 15 members of the Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council come from the town’s organisations and arrangements were similar in the other community councils.
