Arthurlie FC score £4k funding boost

Barrhead-based junior football team, Arthurlie FC, has been awarded a £4,000 sponsorship.

As part of East Renfrewshire Council’s community benefits, suppliers who win any major contract must commit to support local causes through community enhancement, training and employment opportunities, work placements, school curriculum support and SME supply chain development.

Construction and manufacturing company, CCG (Scotland) Ltd, were awarded a contract to build 84 new council houses in Barrhead and as part of this will be investing £9,500 into the community.

£4,000 of this has gone to Arthurlie Juniors and contributed towards a tractor to help with the ongoing maintenance of their pitch.

Dave Blakey, Arthurlie Juniors Club president, said: “Everyone at the club is hugely grateful to East Renfrewshire Council and CCG (Scotland) Ltd for this sponsorship.

“The running of a club is expensive and we rely heavily on volunteers and supporters to ensure we can get matches played. This tractor means we can maintain the pitch without having to consider the ongoing costs which will make a massive difference.”

Councillor Danny Devlin Housing and Maintenance Services convener, said: “We are committed to ensuring that the East Renfrewshire community benefits from any significant council investment. I am delighted that, alongside delivering more high-quality social housing for local people, we are also able to facilitate sponsorship for Arthurlie Juniors.

“I am in no doubt that the tractor will leave the park in a fantastic condition and would like to wish the team all the best for the rest of the season.”
