Artist Ron Watson opens Lanark exhibition

Mind you, the show of paintings, prints and collages by 76-year-old Lanark artist Ron Watson might be his first for seven years but, as he points out himself, the number of these infrequent displays tots up to quite a few over the years.

“In fact,” he recalls, “my very first exhibition was back in 1961, so I suppose I’ve had a good few shows over that time.”

The reason why he’s not had a lot more such displays over the years is probably down to the fact that he’s been too busy teaching others how to paint and draw for most of his adult life.
