John said: “He managed to win the primary six and seven national Burns competition and the national fiddle under 12 competition, which was held in Musselburgh.

“Sean was also taking part in a concert in Glasgow on the last evening of a two week traditional music festival where he performed very well.

“He won seven competitions last year and he has continued to do very well this year as well.

“Sean was also invited to take part in a concert in St Petersburg but unfortunately, due to the distance he had to give it a miss.

“The Russians are very passionate about Burns and it would have been a great experience for Sean to go over there but it’s just one of those things unfortunately.”
