Backing food bank a fair task for Symington Guides

Symington Guides Eilidh Flett and Chelsea Kerr are helping Clydesdale Food Bank in their work for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

The girls, both 14, are pictured here helping at the Carluke premises of the food bank, but they have planned a fundraising fair, at Symington Sports Hall on Saturday, November 19, for the food bank.

Those taking tables at the fair are giving a bag of groceries as their “rent” and the public can also pay their admission in groceries. The fair is already widely supported, with more people looking for tables than the Senior Section Guides can take.

Businesses are also rallying round with meal vouchers and an MOT among prizes offered.

“It has turned into a big event,” said mum Karen Flett, adding that the girls had learned a lot as they volunteered at the food bank.
