Cafe serves up £500 to East Ren Good Causes

East Renfrewshire Good Causes has received a £500 donation from the Lunch Bite Café in Giffnock.

Russell and Yvonne Macmillan were invited to join the Lunch Bite Café at the Giffnock United Reform Church URC, where they received a warm welcome, a bite of lunch and a generous £500 donation from the café group.

The group is one of many activities run out of the church based in the heart of Giffnock.

The Café is open to all, provides a free lunch and a bit of friendly company, and is open on Wednesdays from 12.15pm, running from October to April with a break at Christmas, and is located in the church hall in Giffnock URC.

Russell, founder of local charity ERGoodCauses, said: “As a Christian myself, I believe in loving God, and loving your neighbour, but in today’s complicated western world, where the welfare state and NHS provide for many needs, we need to all work together to identify local gaps and the solution to those needs, in order to love our neighbours.

“Once the trained frontline staff like teachers, housing social and health workers bring these often hidden needs to ERGoodCauses, we then require funds to flow in to meet these unmet needs, and this is a very welcome contribution to our efforts here at home in East Renfrewshire.”

Russell added: “I would encourage other churches, groups, businesses and individuals to join our team effort by contacting myself on 07714293256 or by emailing [email protected].

“By working together, we really can raise the local standard and let our neighbours know that, as a community, we care for them.”
