It was quite simply a pleasure to be involved in a trek which marked the polite and articulate youngsters’ latest attempt to gain a John Muir Award.
The P5 to P7 pupils walked half a mile to woods in the Carmichael Estate before showing off a range of outdoor skills.
The kids made dens from branches, erected a tent, started their own fire, boiled water in a storm kettle and made hot chocolate to impress principal teacher Julie Burns and classroom assistant Margaret Telfer.
