Choc-tastic day at Lanark Greyfriars today!

FOR all of us desperate to get rid of all those excess chocolate bars from our homes after Christmas, Greyfriars Church may be the place to be this morning (Saturday).

The church is holding a chocolate morning fundraiser and is urging those who don’t want their excess Mars Bars or Snickers to hand them over.

Greyfriars Church minister Rev Bryan Kerr said: “We held the event for the first time last year and we were blown away by its success.

“If people want to come and enjoy the chocolate they can while those who just want rid of theirs can hand them over. I like to think we are performing a public service!

“On the day we will have chocolate bars, chocolate cakes and a chocolate tombola. Everything will be chocolatised!”

Bryan believes this kind of fundraiser will bring a huge number of families down to the church and he hopes that there will be more quirky fundraisers in the future.

He added: “Last year the church hall was packed and there was a great atmosphere. Doing this is a great way of bringing more people into the church.”

The chocolate morning is today, January 24, from 10am to noon. Entry will be £3 for adults and £1 for children.
