Clyde & Avon Valley Landscape Partnership workshop event in Hamilton tomorrow

The workshop is the first training event in the series entitled Glorious Gardens: Exploring Our Hidden Gardens and Forgotten Landscapes.

The project aims to train and support volunteers as they research and record the area’s historic gardens and designed landscapes.

Anyone interested in joining Glorious Gardens can come along on Saturday and learn how to use various online resources to discover the history and archaeology of these place.

The workshop will begin with a short overview on researching gardens and designed landscapes, provided by Sue Hewer of Scotland’s Garden & Landscape Heritage.

Lorna Innes and Ingrid Shearer, of Northlight Heritage, will lead the training session in two parts.

The first will show volunteers how to use online resources for research including well-known ones like the National Library of Scotland Map Library as well as more obscure websites.

The second part will talk through how information will be gathered and shared during the project.

The workshop is being held at Hamilton Town House Library from 10am to 3pm. It is free of charge, but places must be booked in advance by phoning 07432 694 178 or emailing [email protected]. Lunch will be provided.
