Clydesdale drama boost

CLYDESDALE drama clubs have received a helping hand thanks to a Supercounty cash boost.

The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) of Lanarkshire supports 14 amateur societies and clubs including Carluke Amateur Operatic and Lanark Amateur Operatic Societies.

The Supercounty £2013 cheque will help clubs across Lanarkshire with their upcoming productions, with NODA distributing the money.

NODA Lanarkshire Representative David Black said: “NODA ensures that affiliated clubs are successful and sustainable by providing opportunities for people to develop skills and support education and information needs.

“The Lanarkshire organisations are exceptionally hard working with productions taking place throughout the year.

“The support from Supercounty has been fantastic; together we are all working to the same objective – to highlight and celebrate Lanarkshire, a county that is full of really good people doing really amazing things.

“This money will be used for a collective event which will allow all NODA affiliated groups to celebrate their success.”

John Scott, Head of Supercounty added: “The amateur societies and clubs are a credit to Lanarkshire.

“The vast number of people involved is incredible; the actors themselves are supported by an army of volunteers to make the musicals, plays, concerts and pantomimes the wonderful success they are.

“I would like to encourage communities across Lanarkshire to support their local theatrical club.

“They offer wonderful, entertaining evenings, suitable for all the family.”
