Concert has sax appeal

MEMBERS of Lesmahagow Male Voice Choir are busy preparing for their upcoming annual concert.

The concert will be the first under the new conductorship of Ukranian soprano Oksana Mavrodii and will feature the talents of Lesmahagow High Young Musician of the Year saxophonist Jennifer Dyet.

Male Voice Choir member Jim Macintyre said: “We have had one concert so far with Oksana and she is definitely bringing a new approach to the choir.

“She has trained as a conductor and is a performer herself and she has introduced a number of new techniques that are making a real difference.

“She’s really going down well with the guys, keeping us all in line and we’re definitely benefiting from her professionalism.

“We always try and promote talent within the village and we like to bring in the musician of the year from Lesmahagow High.

People always enjoy seeing the young people coming through and I’m sure that everyone who comes along will enjoy Jennifer on the saxophone.”
