Could you give a home to a friendly rat snake?

The Scottish SPCA is looking for a new home for Drew, the rat snake, who has been in the care of its Lanarkshire centre for a whopping 815 days.

Scotland's animal welfare charity is desperate to find a home for the little snake who arrived into its care after being found as a stray.

Lanarkshire centre Manager Peter Fleming said, “We understand that snakes aren’t for everyone but we feel they are often overlooked and although they don't play fetch or come when you call their name, snakes are great pets for any reptile lover and Drew is particularly friendly.

“It’s not uncommon for snakes to stay in our care for years before being rehomed but we’re positive that we can find a suitable owner for every animal in our care.

“His owner will need to be dedicated and have the time and commitment to ensure Drew continues to be a happy and healthy snake.”

Anyone who can offer Drew or one of the other snakes in its care a suitable new home is being asked to contact the Scottish SPCA’s centre in Lanarkshire on 03000 999 999.
