Craig and his wife, Kathryn, from Dolphinton, set off in their yacht, Aequitas, from Antigua in the Caribbean in January 2013.

The circumnavigation, part of the 25-leg Oyster World Rally, took them first to countries such as Panama and Ecuador before crossing the Pacific Ocean to Australia, then on to Indonesia and across the Indian Ocean to South Africa.

Next, they conquered the Atlantic Ocean en route to Brazil and the Caribbean and finally returned to Nelson’s Dockyard at the English Harbour in Antigua – a full trip of over 30,000 nautical miles,

“The route took in so many countries and island groups and was full of highlights, such as making landfall in Hanavave Bay – the Bay of Virgins – in the Marquesas after a passage of more than 3,000 miles across the Pacific,” said Craig.
