Douglas Westside Story tells the tale of an American family, led by patriarch Chuck McDuff, played by Tom Kirkland, coming to the village in the 1950s to set up a toy factory after the closure of the local mines.

As the Americans come into town, the leaders of two rival gangs, the Springhill Sharks and the West Wildcats, vie for the affections of the American’s daughter Maria, played by Lynsey McLeod.

As the clock ticks towards the start of the 1960s, the gangs are nose to nose in combat over girls, love and rivalry.

Top performances come from gang leaders Kenny Young, who plays Wee Eck from the Springhill Sharks and Stuart Finley as the West Wildcats’ Tony.

Also look out for Robert Flowerdew as Officer Krankie, his son Sebastien who plays Chuck’s son Ricky and John Nimmo as RD Hunter III.

With plenty of local jokes, Douglas Westside Story is one not to be missed. Love , rivalry , gang warfare and good rock n roll music. What more do you want for a fiver?

Douglas Westside Story runs from Wednesday, March 19, to Saturday, March 22, in Douglas Primary School.

Tickets, priced £5, are available now from Rebecca on 01555 851708.
