Family weekend at Wilsontown Ironworks coming up

The Wilsontown Ironworks may have closed long ago - but there is still much to celebrate about the famous old works.

The Forestry Commission is celebrating Wilsontown’s industrial history with a family-friendly event at the Ironworks.

The drop-in event will include a performance from the Walking Theatre Company, who have been doing theatre workshops with pupils from Forth Primary School to stage a production about the site.

Professor John Hume from Glasgow University will also give a short talk about the Ironworks and there will be fun family events happening all day including a treasure trail.

Families will be free to explore the site and learn more about its industrial history.

The event is free to attend and families can drop in at any point between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, May 11.
