A menu item from a Glasgow restaurant has been named as one of the ‘best things we ate in August’ in the Good Food Guide last week.

Café Gandolfi got a shout out last week in the Good Food Guide - as inspectors praised a menu item as one of the best things they ate in August.

The Good Food Guide was founded by Raymond Postgate in 1951 - making it the longest-standing (and best-selling) guide to eating out in Great Britain.

The Good Food Guide inspects restaurants based on readers’ tip-offs and suggestions across the country. All inspections are paid for by the Good Food Guide and are conducted anonymously so preferential treatment is given.

A total of 30 inspectors are hired by the Good Food Guide to dine up and down the country - the team is made up of ex-restaurateurs and chefs as well as experienced editors, food writers and critics.

The menu item the Good Food Guide inspector praised at Cafe Gandolfi was the nduja scotch eggs on aioli with toasted hazelnut oil from Cafe Gandolfi - which the critic cited as ‘comfort food’. A smaller plate available on the Lunch and Dinner menu at Cafe Gandolfi.

Open since 1979, Café Gandolfi has a menu established over the last 40 years. It’s all innovative takes on classic Scottish dishes and produce. A lot of thought is put into each and every dish on the menu - all crafted from the “ freshest, most sustainable ingredients available.”
