Glasgow City Council has received an application to change the use of a property on Great Western Road — and another to convert a building on Woodlands Road.

The plan for 12 Woodlands Road would see a “cat cafe” opened by applicant Jack Zhu, with planning documents showing “cat play areas” in the premises.

“Customers are able to enjoy light refreshments in a calm environment while interacting with the resident cats,” the application added.

There would be no hot food served, as no cooking or reheating is planned on site but “cakes and coffee” would be available. The proposed opening hours are from 9am to 6pm.

The other application, submitted by KNOSOS Ltd, could see a hairdressers at 520 Great Western Road converted into a cafe.

Documents submitted to the council show ‘Keke’s Gyros’ would operate from the premises.

Both applications are currently under consideration by council planners.
