Johnnie Walker Princes Street was transformed into an après-ski resort through decor and a number of themed installations in celebration, launching the rare new blend. GlasgowWorld was invited to one of the first tastings of the new blend.
Created by Master Blender Emma Walker, each sip of Ice Chalet begins with notes of cinnamon-spiced apple before transitioning to warm cloves and spices, finishing with subtle hints of Alpine smoke. Designed to be enjoyed after a day on the slopes, with a tasting journey inspired by ‘Blue Hour’ - the time when skiing completes and an evening of socialising commences.

Aside from its exquisite taste what makes Ice Chalet so special is that only one in every 10,000 casks meet the requirements to go into the blend proving it is no simple task to achieve the complex flavour mix that creates its rich depth.
“When creating Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet, we set out to blend a whisky that was inspired by the Alpine landscape and captured the magic of special Après Ski moments”, said Master Blender Emma Walker.
“Using Met Office data, we uncovered rare expressions that were distilled in the depths of some of Scotland’s coldest winters and blended these with whiskies from some of our most northern, and highest altitude distilleries, including Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and Brora, to create a velvety smooth Scotch with Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s signature depth of flavour at its heart.”
The new limited release will be showcased at a series of global events with consumer experiences opening in January in key luxury Après Ski locations. A number of Ice Chalet tasting experiences at Johnnie Walker Princes Street are also available to book.
