Former Brownsbank Cottage return to Biggar

TWO former Brownsbank Cottage residents are returning to Biggar for an exciting evening to raise funds for the museum.

James Robertson and Aonghas MacNeacail will be joined by a third poet, Alan Riach, Professor of Scots Language and Literature at Glasgow University.

Borders artist Sheila Mullen will also talk about her vision of some of their work which she has portrayed on canvas.

The event, entitled Three Poets and a Painter, will also have musical interludes from some very talented Biggar High School pupils.

Organised by Biggar Museums Trust, it is hoped that the event will raise much-needed funds for the former home of Scottish poet Hugh MacDiarmid and his wife Valda.

The Three Poets and a Painter event is being held in the Biggar Corn Exchange on Friday, March 22, at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced £10, are available by calling 01899 221225, or from Atkinson-Pryce in the High Street.
