Fresh Thinking Roadshow visits Silverburn to help fight food waste at Christmas

A custom-built mobile kitchen will be visiting Glasgow this Christmas to help Scots to think differently about the food and leftovers in their fridges.

The Fresh Thinking Roadshow, a nationwide initiative launched by Hotpoint, has been touring the country and will visit Silverburn Shopping Centre on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 December.

During its two-day residency, the roadshow will offer festive food hacks, tip and tricks, as well as leftovers cooking demos and interactive games.

The roadshow cooking demo will feature festive recipes based on some of the nation’s most wasted foods:

Bread

Bagged salad

Fresh vegetables

Cooked leftovers

Fresh fruit

Milk

Eggs

Cheese

Meat

Fish

Jennifer Taylor, head of Brand for Hotpoint, commented: “Our research has shown us how much food Brits are wasting every year, and the Christmas holiday is the prime time for British households to be full of festive food and leftovers. We want to show people how to take action to help prevent food waste. There’s so much that can be done with Christmas leftovers and forgotten food, and with the right kitchen equipment, from fridge technology that keeps food fresh for longer to ovens with auto-recipe functions for extra inspiration, your food and your money can go a lot further.”
