The 67-year-old was selected as this year’s Crowning Lady by members of Carluke Gala Committee for her sterling work in the town over a number of decades.

And Linda, who runs Kirkton Church’s Crossroads Cafe, was absolutely delighted to accept the honour.

Her husband Stuart will be supporting her on the day.

She said: “I was very pleased to be asked; it’s a great honour although it’s something I’ve never really thought about before.

“I’m really looking forward to it and I’m hoping that the sun shines and the crowds come out.

“There will be plenty of people there and it’s great when everyone in the town is out enjoying themselves.
