Giffnock youngster celebrates being cancer free in style

Euan MacColl (8) recently received the all-clear after a year-long battle with cancer, which included surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

He has finished treatment and started back at Giffnock Primary School this term, now in primary four, having missed a great deal of school last year.

Mum Philippa said: “It was an end of treatment party to celebrate Euan getting the all-clear. He had a scan a few weeks ago and he was given the all clear then.

“He has been so brave throughout his treatment and it was great to have all his friends there from Giffnock Primary School, they all had a great time and he received a lot of presents!”

Perhaps one of the best presents Euan received was a special message from his hero.

Philippa continued: “He also got a special message from his hero Bear Grylls while he was on treatment.

“Bear sent him a Tweet before his operation last year and sent a signed portait of himself with a message to stay positive.

“That’s now framed on his bedroom wall and it was really nice of him to send it and give Euan some more courage.

“I’m so proud of him.”
