Goodbye grey sky, hello blue

THUMBS up for the offering at Eastwood Park Theatre this week.

Theatre South Productions are back in action, chasing away grey skies for blue in the Scottish amateur premiere of Happy Days: The Musical.

The hit US musical is based on the original television series (which ran for an impressive ten years), and written by the show’s creator, Garry Marshall – so long-time fans can rest assured that the Happy Days legacy remains intact.

Join Richie and the Cunninghams, Potsie, Ralph Malph and the king of cool himself, Arthur Fonzarelli, all still hanging out at malt shop Arnold’s.

It’s 1959, and Arnold’s is in danger of demolition – so the gang devise a day-saving plan: a dance contest and TV-worthy wrestling match.

Expect sock-hoppin’ galore and plenty of rock ‘n’ roll offered up by the seasoned southside am dram club.

It’s a special year for Theatre South Productions as they mark 21 years on the stage.

For the Clarkston-based group, it’s all about the singing, dancing and acting – and with over two decades under their belts, they must be doing something right.

But don’t take our word for it; because the production received the thumbs up from The Fonz himself recently.

When the group tweeted about their show, they were met with a personal reply from Mr Henry Winkler (@hwinkler4real) who replied that they should “sing and dance your cool hearts out”.

Somehow, we at Extra Weekend think Theatre South will make The Fonz proud – without the need to jump any sharks.

nMarch 5-9, 7.30pm plus 2.30pm Sat mat. Tickets £12-£15 from 577 4956 or [email protected].
