Jim Duncan hopes to rock and walk

Already busy helping organise April’s big Scottish Music Show at New Lanark on April 27 and 28, local musician and entrepreneur Jim Duncan is already looking to wider horizons and to far, far bigger things.

Among his many schemes is one to give Scotland’s mostly unsung and unsigned local musicians AND the nation’s vital tourist industry a mutual boost.

What he’s dubbed The Great Scottish Gig centres on the new national public walkway which runs the entire length of Scotland, from the Borders up to Caithness.

The Scottish Government is seeking ideas to promote the new route and our Jim thinks he’s hit on a scheme to marry those very unusual bedfellows of rock music and healthy exercise!

He said: “My plan is to have sponsored tents every five miles at strategic stages of the walk close to populated areas, with musicians playing at the tents.

“It would be a a week-long festival targeted at ramblers, nature and landscape photographers, musicians and poets, as well as the general public and tourists.”
