Kirkmuirhill girl Victoria meets Pixie Lott

GETTING to spend quality time with an ‘A’ List pop star doesn’t happen very often, but Kirkmuirhill girl Victoria Goodship got the chance to do exactly that last week.

Blackwood Primary pupil Victoria (10), of Westburn Terrace, met British singing sensation Pixie Lott (23) in Glasgow, where she was visiting to do a signing session in HMV.

“It was brilliant that Victoria – who shares Pixie’s real first name – got the chance to meet her,” said the Kirkmuirhill youngster’s mum Michelle (45).

“Victoria is a real fan of Pixie. I think it is the whole image thing.

“She likes her music and blonde hair.

“Talking to Pixie was surreal for Victoria; she’d never done anything like it.

“My two older girls (25-year-old Danielle and 21-year-old Charlene) were both a bit jealous when they heard Victoria was going to meet Pixie.”

Michelle, Victoria and her pal Iona McMurdo – a fellow member of Larkhall’s Avondale Gymnastics Club – relished the chance to have a chin wag with Pixie as she took time out from a CD signing session at the Glasgow store.

The trio got a 20-minute private chat with Pixie and her mum Beverley.

“The girls were tickled pink to speak to Pixie,” Michelle added. “She was a little bit shy. Her mum was actually doing most of the talking; she was dead bubbly and welcoming.

“I think people admire Pixie because she is lovely; she is not a pop star who always gets into trouble.

“I like Pixie’s music as well and I enjoyed the buzz and excitement too.”

Michelle revealed exactly how Victoria’s meeting with her idol had come about.

“It was arranged thanks to John Symington, who is the manager of Pixie’s security company,” Michelle said.

“John is friendly with Kirkmuirhill man Jackie McVey, who is a friend of my cousin’s husband.

“When they heard that Victoria was such a big fan, they got Pixie to sign CDs for her and arranged it all.”
